Once again, I am involved in Burlesque for Peace, (the website hasn't been updated yet but should be soon) a benefit to be taking place on February the 14th (Valentine's Day, natch) at Arts on Real. For those of you who's like to see me shake it old school, I'll be keeping you updated in this space.
What a slow week - I've heard it's been quiet all over town. I'm eagerly anticipating the weekend at this point.
Tuesday there was a fight in the club between some customers, which fortunately was taken outside quickly, but it was kind of scary and a bunch of us were huddled back in the dressing room. It was a really unpleasant night - lots of rude, grabby customers and just drama in general. I was all set to get out of Dodge when a young guy comes up and tips me on stage and tells me he remembers me from the Show Palace and that he thought I was his all time favorite stripper! I remembered him (he has a pretty unique name, and we'd had a great conversation about bands I don't usually get to talk about at work) and got to hang out with him for most of the rest of the night, which was relaxing and fun - completely saved my mood for the night. I wonder if customers like that really know how great they are, how they can totally make a stripper's night just by being laid back and fun to talk to. There are several that I can think of off the top of my head, that when they walk in the door, my mood instantly improves because I'm thinking, "Here's someone who I can interact with like a real person! Yay!" There's a couple of girls like that too.
There's some fairly serious remodeling going on inside the club right now since they've torn down the wall that separated the expansion room from the rest of the club - you can now see into the rest of the club without feeling cut off from the action in the main room. Should be very nice once it's finished, but it's a disaster area right now.
Steve, the lighting and sound guy, had read my wish list and noticed that I had a circular saw on there, and guess what? He brought me one! I'm so excited, now I can get to work on those new bookshelves I've been wanting to make. It was so sweet of him to bring it to me.
